Clint Lowery, Sevendust’s “renegade”

Clint Lowery

After 23 years of musical career, Sevendust’s guitarist, Clint Lowery decides to take his own adventure with: God Bless The Renegades.

In 1971 Clint Lowery was born. 26 years later he would become part of one of the greatest bands of Nu Metal, Sevendust.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Clint Lowery outside of his main band. In 2004, with his brother Corey Lowery (bassist of Saint Asonia, Seether and Eye Empire) formed the band Dark New Days (3 studio albums). I strongly recommend you to take a look.

Hit song:

Not to mention his short time at Korn when Brian “Head” Welch left the band. Clint Lowery himself says that sending him home on the 2007 tour saved his life:

Korn saved my life by sending me home. I was arrested in Slovakia for getting drunk and destroying the hotel room where we were staying.

I look back and I’m so glad it happened, because something like this had to happen for me to recover.

It seemed “poetic justice” that I replace a person who left his band so that he could be with his family, detoxify himself and be saved by the Faith, and that his replacement fall on the same stone and have to do the same.

This solo album is REALLY GOOD. Without a doubt, you can see that these are the fingers that write the very powerful Sevendust riffs, as well as that melodic voice that can remind us Lajon Witherspoon, but in all that mix we can appreciate that the album has personality wherever you look.

Looking for the path after Three Days Grace

Saint Asonia

Saint Asonia, Adam Gontier’s super band after 21 years leading Three Days Grace.

At the end of 2012 and only 2 weeks away from starting the tour with Shinedown and P.O.D. to promote their album “Human“, Adam Gontier leaves Three Days Grace without giving specific reasons.

After Adam’s departure, Mike Mushok, Staind‘s guitarist, was the first to contact him, to give him moral support and sit down to write music as pure entertainment.

Hit song:

Finally in 2015 and almost without wanting it, after showing a demo with the single Better Place, Saint Asonia was born, joining the band Dark New Day, Eye Empire or Seether bass player, Corey Lowery (brother of Clint Lowery, guitarist of Sevendust) and drummer Rich Beddoe, then on Finger Eleven.

Happy birthday Mabanag Music!

As time goes by, it’s been a year since we started this great adventure and I couldn’t be more grateful.

It’s being a time of learning, not only as a blogger, but also as a personal challenge to grow as a musician. Without a doubt, an enjoyable experience to recycle, discover and share.

A long time ago, when I started in music, there was no better feeling than getting together with your friends and playing covers of your favorite bands. Unlike what you see on TV or hear on the radio, you sound pretty bad rehearsing in your parents’ garage or basement. As time goes by, things get better, you stop playing other people’s songs to writte  your own songs. You record your first demos in real music studios, you give free demos, you promote yourself giving concerts… All this at a time when social media was mouth-to-mouth. Finally and as a natural selection, call it a lack of talent, bad luck or not being in the right moment… All that illusion disappears one day.

My actual f*****g squad!

Now that I’m a few years older, I realize that having a band with only 12 years old wasn’t the most common thing. So I feel very fortunate to have lived that moment.

Sometimes, we have to go back in order to move forward, in my case I’ve had the illusion again to get together again with my friends to play covers of our favorite bands. So I couldn’t find a better excuse to celebrate this 1st Anniversary of Mabanag Music and share my 10 favorite songs from Pop to Metal performed by modern bands.

I hope you like it… A million thanks to all of you who follow me in this madness!
