Fire From the Gods releases their new work, American Sun. Powerful, fresh and very pure. Will you join me and listen to them?
Fire From The Gods band
Formed in 2010 in Austin (Texas). The band brings different music styles from the purest Metal, Rock, Hip Hop… to Reggae voices. As Channer explains:
“If the song calls for screaming and angry vocals I’ll do that and if it calls for something a little more melodic that’s what I do, it’s just about the emotion of the song and how I’m feeling at the moment. I like to say we wrote a rock record with a hip-hop ethos.”
Fire From the Gods have experienced their ups and downs since their debut album. However, they kept working to release their latest album American Sun, a Masterpiece for my ears and where I recommend you to start if it’s the first time you hear about them.
In 2017 they re-launched their first work under the name of Narrative Retold, including two new songs produced by Korn‘s singer Jonathan Davis.
Can you imagine if Fred Durst didn’t listen to Cold‘s demo? Would we know them today? Would we know what they’ve released a new album?
Cold
It was 2000, bands like Korn, Limp Bizkit, Staind… (Family Values ’98, great concert where we could see everyone sharing the same stage), they were doing their best. By accident, I got a CD with an eye-catching album cover: “COLD – 13 Ways to Bleed“. For sure, if you’ve listened to them, you couldn’t ignore Scooter Ward‘s voice, deep, dark, melancholic and with a very strong personality.
Cold or Grundig at that time, was formed in 1996, Jacksonville (Florida). Their first album of the same name, produced by Ross Robinson, didn’t have much success. It was in 2000 with their second album “13 Way to Bleed“, when the band became widely known. If this is the first time you’ve heard of them, I strongly recommend you start here.
Their third album “Year of the Spider“, made them reach the top, heading into 3rd place on the Billboard chart, but also meant a year of change, professional as well as personal. Their first single, “Stupid Girl,” featured Weezer singer Rivers Cuomo. However, after this great success, the record label or the bad personal moment that was going Scooter Ward (never clarified), they stopped to promote the album.
August will be Slipknot‘s month, this band from Iowa will present their latest work “We Are Not Your Kind”. Until then, let’s check out their discography.
Slipknot
It was 1999, in one hand the keys of the car after passing the driving license and in the other a red CD with 9 people with masks… Slipknot was one of the first bands I listened behind the wheel and certainly a breath of fresh air in the Nu-Metal movement.
There is not much we can say about this band from Des Moine, Iowa, that has not been said or written. But… Did you know… ?
Corey Taylor:
Before Slipknot released their first album, in their second performance and known under the name Meld, they shared the stage with the band Stone Sour.
Spit it out:
Thanks to this hit single, the band caught the attention of record companies. Finally the great Ross Robinson, producer who bet on bands like Korn, Limp Bizkit or Deftones, took care of working with them to record their first album.
Did they always wear masks?:
Not all the time. Although the band started in 1992, it wasn’t until 1995 that they decided to use gross makeup and later masks. Finally in 1997 they decided to identify with numbers and wear customs.
Joey Jordison:
Did you know that ex-drummer Joey Jordinson had to replace Lars Ulrich (Metallica) at the Download Festival because of an anxiety attack? And the answer is yes… He couldn’t rehearse with them, so he just warmed up, reached the stage and played.
Before their fifth album, Joey had to leave the band because of a terrible disease called transverse myelitis, a form of multiple sclerosis that affected his legs and made him unable to play. Fortunately, after a long and hard rehabilitation, Joey himself confirms that he is at 100% and ready to start new projects.
All Hope is Gone:
Debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard list.
.5 The Gray Chapter, tributo a un amigo: On May 24th, 2010, bassist Paul Gray died after an accidental overdose of morphine and its synthetic substitute, fentanyl. Sad news, where Corey Taylor himself stated that it would make no sense to continue with Slipknot without Gray. Finally, the band decided to move on and pay tribute.
Although hailing from Germany, the band is living the American dream. Formed in 2012, Any GivenDay became known in 2013 through YouTube with Rihanna’s cover, “Diamonds,” reaching more than 10 million views.
Any Given Day Band
In their third and latest album “Overpower,” we can appreciate a great balance between brutality and catchy melodies. If this is the first time you’ve heard about them, I recommend you to make your first contact from this point.
In 2009, Nine Lashes released their first independent album. Months later they caught the attention of Thousand Foot Krutch and with them the music contract with Tooth & Nail Records.
Nine Lashes
After recording their first album “Escape“, the band sent it to the Alabama’s Magnolia Festival promotor. Impressed by what he had heard, he did not hesitate to put them in touch with the singer Trevor McNevan of Thousand Foot Krutch, not only helped them get a music contract, he also bet on them collaborating in the production of their second album “World We View“.
From Ashes to New was born in 2013. Before their first EP, the band became popular on social networks. After their second EP “Downhill”, the band jumped into the international scene by touring with Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach or POD. Finally, in 2016 their first studio album “Day One” was released.
Burden Of The Sky, American Hard Rock/Metal alternative band, born in 2012 in Bloomington (Illinois). “Cinis Ad Cinis”, the band’s debut album, was released in 2017. Their single Same Old Page, has more than 800,000 views.
New album expected to be released this year, until then we can find their singles Sirensand The Puppeter.
Welcome to my Trauma… I Prevail releases their last work and I won’t lie to you, is at the same level as we expected.
I Prevail – Trauma album
Continuing on the track of their previous work “Lifelines“, the band keeps betting on their guttural verses by Eric Vanlerberghe, with the catchy, harmonious choruses of Brian Burkheiser.
Getting another MASTERPIECE is not easy, even more so considering where the bar was set. They won’t let you down at all!
What happens when members of Letlive, The Chariot and Night Verses get together? Well, we say hello to the band Fever 333.
Fever 333
On July 4th, 2017, Fever 333 performed a surprise concert in a rental truck in the parking lot of a Randy’s Donuts bakery in Inglewood, California. They presented three new tracks from their first album “Made an America“.
Their lyrics have a political and protest content, influenced by bands like Rage Against The Machine. Fever 333 has also collaborated with artists such as Travis Barker (drummer of Blink 182).
